Terms

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Xend, which runs Huddle. They explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you when you use the Huddle app or website.

Last updated 29 October 2026

01About these terms

"Huddle", "we", "us" and "our" mean Xend and the Huddle services: the mobile app, the website and anything else that links to these terms. "You" means the person using Huddle.

By creating an account or using Huddle, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you don't agree, please don't use Huddle.

02Who can use Huddle

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
  • You need a Tanzanian mobile number that you own or are allowed to use. We confirm it with a one-time code sent by SMS.
  • One account per person. You may not use Huddle if we have banned you before, or if the law of the United Republic of Tanzania or anywhere you are forbids it.
  • Accounts reported as belonging to someone under 18 are suspended while we review them, and closed if the report is true.

03Your account

  • Keep your phone and the codes we send you safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
  • If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us straight away at support@huddle.us.
  • Your username must be your own. You can change it once every 30 days, and your old username is held for 30 days so nobody can take it at once.
  • Some usernames are reserved, such as names of our staff, brands and public figures. We may take back a username that impersonates someone or infringes their rights.

04Your content

You own what you post: drops, replies, photos, lounge messages and waves. You're responsible for it, and you confirm you have the right to share it.

To run Huddle, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, resize, compress, display and deliver your content to the people who are allowed to see it. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups, which are replaced within 14 days.

We never use members-only drops, lounge messages or waves to promote Huddle.

05Who can see what you post

  • Drops in Open huddles are public: anyone can read them, even without an account.
  • Drops in Request huddles are for that huddle's members only.
  • A huddle's lounge is for the people in it. Waves are only between you and the other person.
  • A pull-up's exact meeting spot and the list of who's going are shown only to people who joined it.

06Rules of conduct

Use Huddle lawfully and respectfully. You must not post or share content that is prohibited under the Electronic and Postal Communications (Online Content) Regulations, 2020, as amended, the Cybercrimes Act, 2015, or any other law of the United Republic of Tanzania. Our Community Guidelines explain this in detail.

  • Don't harass, threaten, bully or impersonate anyone.
  • Don't post sexual content, hate speech, violent threats or content that promotes crime.
  • Don't spread false information that could cause public harm.
  • Don't share other people's private information, including phone numbers and locations.
  • Don't spam, scam or try to get people's money, codes or passwords.
  • Don't break, overload, scrape or get around the security of Huddle.

07Huddles, founders and hosts

Anyone can start a huddle. The founder and up to 10 hosts run it: they can approve join requests, remove drops, mute people in the lounge and ban people from the huddle. A founder can hand the role to someone else.

Founders and hosts may set house rules for their huddle, as long as they don't conflict with these terms. If a founder's account is deleted, the longest-serving host becomes founder. We may archive a huddle that breaks these terms or has no one to run it.

08Pull-ups and meeting in person

Pull-ups are planned by huddlers, not by Huddle. We don't organise, check, supervise or attend them, and you decide whether to go. You're responsible for your own safety and behaviour when you meet people.

  • Meet in public places, especially the first time.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and when you'll be back.
  • Never share a pull-up's exact spot with people who didn't join.
  • If something goes wrong, contact the police first, then report it to us.

09Waves and your door

You can start a wave only when both your door and theirs are open. You can close your door at any time; existing conversations stay. Blocking someone ends the conversation for both of you. The first message to someone new is text only, and you can start up to 20 new waves a day with people who haven't replied.

11Fair use

To keep Huddle fair and free of spam, there are limits: up to 30 drops an hour, 20 join requests a day and 20 reports a day. If you go over a limit, you'll be asked to wait before trying again.

12Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a drop, reply, lounge message, wave, huddler or huddle. Hosts can act within their huddle, and our staff review reports.

If content or behaviour breaks these terms or the law, we may remove the content, limit your account, suspend or close it, or archive a huddle. We remove prohibited content promptly and within the times the Online Content Regulations require, and we act on lawful orders from the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, courts and other competent authorities. Every staff action is recorded with who took it and why.

If you think we got a decision wrong, write to support@huddle.us within 30 days and we'll look at it again.

13Our name, logo and design

The Huddle name, logo, app design and software belong to Xend. You may not copy or use them without our written permission, except to link to Huddle.

If you believe content on Huddle infringes your copyright or trademark, write to legal@huddle.us with what the work is, where it appears on Huddle, and how to reach you. We'll review it and remove infringing content.

14Your personal data

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it and the rights you have under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.

15Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deletion starts a 7-day wait, and signing in during that time cancels it.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if your account puts other people or Huddle at risk. Where we can, we'll tell you why.

The sections on your content licence (for backups), our name and design, liability and governing law continue after your account ends.

16Changes to Huddle and to these terms

Huddle keeps changing, and so may these terms. If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Huddle after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

17Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Huddle safe and available, but we provide it "as is". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, and we're not responsible for what other huddlers or businesses post, say or do, online or in person.

18Limits on our liability

As far as the law of the United Republic of Tanzania allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits or data, or harm caused by other people's content or behaviour.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

19Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. If you have a problem with Huddle, please write to legal@huddle.us first; most issues can be sorted out quickly. If we can't resolve it, the courts of the United Republic of Tanzania will decide.
